Since I’m just starting a new role, my future plans include further developing my skills in leadership, project management and community building to make a positive difference to the expanding learning development at Durham University.
I will also be continuing to take part in regular scholarship via the Perplexagogy podcast, and would also look to upgrade my AFHEA accreditation to full fellowship.
I’m currently working on a proposal for a part-time PhD, funded by the University. I am hoping to focus this on the use of immersive virtual reality in education. In particular, I’m interested in completing a longitudinal study to look at the advantages of using immersive virtual reality in the longer term. I’m also interested in assessing whether the learning differences in VR are explained by its particular affordances, for example presence, or by the ‘novelty effect’ of exposure to a new and exciting technology.
